Snickers Workwear signs on Pattern Engineer from H&M Snickers Workwear has strengthened its design team with the appointment of a new Pattern Engineer from H&M, Kicki Kemze. She will be in charge of making sure that the garments from Snickers Workwear are functional and offer a great fit to all workers. “I have taken on a great challenge that I am looking forward to meet. Snickers Workwear clothes are created at an exciting intersection where functionality, safety, quality and fashion meet. We will design clothes that make life easier for the craftsmen yet at the same time offer a fashionable edge. It is fun to have such a clear target audience and such a tangible goal”, said Kicki Kemze, Pattern Engineer at Snickers. Presently there are 140 garments in Snicker’s selection and each year 30 to 40 new or updated garments are launched. All are available in multiple sizes, and the craftsmen’s trousers have the largest number with a total of 72 different sizes. A garment is sewn in several different factories. It’s Kicki’s job to make sure that the pattern is properly adjusted to make sure that the garments offer a great fit regardless of size. Snickers Workwear’s product development team consists of seven people that have created brand name garments at companies such as Björn Borg, Helly Hansen, Marco Polo, Haglöfs, O´Neill, H&M, Stadium and Kvintettgruppen. The team has an ongoing dialogue with the craftsmen and studies how they work to make sure they fully understand their needs. If the team can’t find a material that meets their high standards they will create one. They make functional, hard wearing and comfortable garments that are breathable and dirt repellent. Snickers’ design team look for inspiration from the fashion and sports industries and the team works closely together to reach their goals. “We were looking for a new Pattern Engineer with a solid base of experience from working with a large variety of garments. A person who likes working in a high paced environment and with two feet solidly on the ground. The Pattern Engineer is responsible for making sure that all our garments have a great fit in all sizes for both men and women, from socks to thermal undergarments and craftsmen’s trousers to jackets. It’s a pretty big task, and I am certain that Kicki will do a great job of it”, said Henry Lundberg, Product Development Manager Snickers Workwear. Kicki has been a Pattern Engineer at H&M for ten years and have worked with children’s, women’s and maternity clothes. “Snickers Workwear was founded in1975 by an electrician. His misson was to create workmen’s clothes that would help the workers throughout the day, making them more efficient and to keep them safe on the job. The company is well known throughout Europe and my feeling at the first meeting was that we work toward the same mission. It’s inspiring”, said Kicki Kemze. |
